Exhibit: Sea Otters

Sea Otter Surrogate Moms

May 2009
Our sea otters are always busy! In addition to thrilling Aquarium guests, some of our otters act as surrogate moms behind the scenes—taking care of otter pups that have been abandoned in the wild. It’s all part of our Sea Otter Research and Conservation (SORAC) program.

The Aquarium has been involved in sea otter conservation efforts for over 20 years, and more than 450 sea otters—including adults and pups—have come through our SORAC program.
