A White Shark on Exhibit
We just placed a young white shark in the Outer Bay exhibit, and so far she’s doing well.
The shark—a 4 ½ foot-long female, weighing 55 ½ pounds—will remain with us as long as she’s in good health and she’s small enough for us to handle safely when it’s time to return her to the wild.
We’re still the only aquarium in the world ever to keep a young white shark for more than 16 days. Three other sharks have been with us for up to six months. We also partner with research colleagues as we tag and track white sharks in the wild.
